A driver lost control of her car early in January going through a work zone on 390 in Avon and slammed into the back of a New York State Department of Transportation truck and had to be transported to Strong Hospital. The female driver, Maria Nickens, is a resident of Kenmorek. Nickens was issued a traffic summons for failure to keep left in a work zone and for inadequate tires. She is due in Avon town court at a later date.

The New York State Department of Transportation trucks were set up in the right lane near the Marshall Road overpass when Nickens lost control of her vehicle and struck one of the trucks in the rear. The state truck was being operated by Dennis Wickson of Geneseo as stated by the Livingston County Sherriff’s Deputy Kevin Barrett.
